A hello and a ReFinished Desk

It’s been a while… we have soooo much to share…just not enough time to write lol. We have been working nonstop on furniture, the house build is happening – slowly but surely – and I can’t wait to share it all with you 🙂

One of our customers bought this desk off of cl. The seller forgot to mention he was a makeup artist and used this desk to hold his makeup. So it came with all kinds of makeup products all over it, glitter and all 😉

I started by sanding the top down to bare wood. And since there was so much glitter everywhere, I also ran my electric sander over the whole desk real quick just to get it cleaned up.painted desk by FiRefinish

It was then time to get the top stained (Dark Walnut by Minwax). I also ran the rag with the stain all over the desk since I knew I was going to distress it and the mix of dark and lighter wood always looks nice 😉

After that I mixed my own chalk paint (whole lot of latex paint + a little bit of plaster of paris –> great recipe I know lol). The color our customer chose for this one was Ocean Kiss by Behr.painted desk by FiRefinish

After 2 coats of paint, some dry time, and it was ready for the fun part (aka distressing). I sanded with 220 grit sandpaper, wiped the dust off, and it was waxing and buffing time. After a few coats she was ready for her new home 🙂painted desk by FiRefinish
